Team Effort
Thanks to all the recipient agencies who provided volunteer help in distributing the rescued produce last month.
Your efforts helped us tremendously in rescuing and distributing over 200,000 pounds of fresh mangoes and spaghetti squash last month.
The spaghetti squash, baked with butter, tastes just like the spaghetti. It provides a delicious meal rich in calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and high in vitamins A, B and C, nutritional values that the hungry children need.
The demand continues to increase as agencies requesting produce have increased by over 20% this last month. Thank you 3000 Club members for making it possible to rescue this produce as more and more families struggle to put food on the table.

Semi Truck and Refrigerated Trailer

With the increase in the amount of produce we are rescuing, we have obtained another semi truck and refrigerated trailer in order to distribute the vast amount of produce we are able to rescue. This addition will allow us to move the produce faster to the needy people, giving them fresher produce, at their peak nutritional value.
International Outreach

An assortment of medical and surgical equipment and accessories totaling over $225,000 was donated by Lions of District 21B, headed by Past District Governor Donna Anderson, International Relations Chair and Lion Patty Figueroa to the Sonoyta Cubabi Lions Club of the B1 District in Sonora. In addition to this were 13 birthing beds donated by Southwest Medical Aid which was founded by Lion Jan Izlar. Transportation from Tucson to Globe to Sonoyta was made possible with the help of The 3000 Club. Lions Lon Taylor, Founder and Ethel Luzario, Co-Founder, of The 3000 Club are both members of the Phoenix Phil-Am Lions Club and the International Relations Committee for Lions Club District 21C in Arizona.
Yes, the same semi-loads that transport the produce we save are the same ones that we were able to use to transport the used medical equipment. Another way to show you that The 3000 Club goes beyond saving the produce!

Coinciding with this effort is another international activity in helping the Philippine Nurses Association of Arizona (PNAAZ) in shipping medical supplies valued at almost $7,000 to the aid the flood victims in the Philippines. PNAAZ President Macbeth Torno (an RN and a consistent team member of the Phoenix Phil-Am Lions Club Medical Missions to the Philippines and Mexico) picked up the supplies and met with Lion Jan Izlar. Cost of shipping the supplies were made possible, again through the assistance of The 3000 Club.
